The Racers will battle Morehead State in the semifinals of the OVC Tournament, Friday afternoon at 2:30. In their only match of the season, Murray State defeated the Eagles in five sets in Morehead. Morehead State is the #3 seed and defeated Southeast Missouri in the first round.
Previous Match
One night after being named to the All-OVC First Team, Rachel Giustino played her best match of the season, racking up 19 kills against just one error for a .529 hitting percentage. Fellow first-team member Dacia Brown tacked on 13 kills and Ashley McBee had 34 assists. OVC Defensive Player of the Year Becca Fernandez accumulated 14 digs, anchoring the Racer back line that held the Skyhawks to a .190 hitting percentage. With the win, the Racers reached 20 wins for the fifth straight seasonÂ
OVC's Best
Becca Fernandez was named OVC Defensive Player of the Year at the annual awards banquet, Wednesday night. She is the fourth player in school history to earn the award. Rachel Giustino and Dacia Brown joined Fernandez on the All-OVC first team, while Rachel Holthaus earned second team honors.
OVC Weekly Recognition
For the third time this season, Becca Fernandez earned OVC Defensive Player of the Week. In two wins, she had 54 digs for an average of 7.71 per set. In the win over Eastern Illinois, Fernandez racked up 38 digs in just three sets, setting a new school record in the rally-scoring era (since 2001) for most digs in a three-set match.
Leading the Pack
After the strong weekend, Fernandez also climbed to the top of the OVC leaderboard with 5.89 digs per set during conference play. Overall, she is averaging 5.06 digs per set.
OVC Tournament
Murray State is looking for its sixth OVC Tournament championship in program history, having previously won in 2016, 2014, 2003, 1992, and 1989.

Scouting Morehead State
The Eagles earned a spot in the semifinals after defeating Southeast Missouri in three sets, Thursday afternoon. OVC Player of the Year Olivia Lohmeier had 18 kills while hitting .395. Fellow All-OVC first team and Cosida Academic All-District member Jessie Wachtman tacked on 14 kills while All-OVC second team member Chandler Clark had 36 assists. As a team, the Eagles are the best blocking team in the OVC, averaging 2.31 per set, led Maddie Fella, who averages 1.30 blocks per set.
