
Racers Run at Greater Louisville Classic

In one of the biggest meets of the year, the Murray State men's and women's cross country teams went to Louisville to run in the Greater Louisville Classic hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission.
The race took place at Tom Sawyer Park, host of last year's national championship meet. The men ran an 8K for the second race in a row while the women ran a 5K.
The women finished seventh out of 31 teams, including besting local rivals Austin Peay and Western: Kentucky. Senior Rebekah Priddy finished 26th overall (18:49.6), improving her place in from this race in 2017 by over 160 spots. Freshman Emma Creviston (19:07.7) and senior Ida Mutai were 37th and 38th overall, each running season-best times. Freshmen Morgan Vosler and Dani Wright finished in the fourth and fifth scoring positions for the Racers with career-best times of 19:31.2 and 19:50.3, respectively.
On the men's side, senior Vince Turner finished 30th overall with a personal-best time of 25:37.1 to lead the Racers to a 29th place finish overall, beating out in-state rivals, Morehead State and Western Kentucky. Junior Zach Balleau also ran a personal-best (25:53.2) to finished 46th overall while sophomores Caleb Kawasaki and Meyer Makemson finished third and fourth for the Racers. Freshman Christian Slone was the team's fifth finisher with a personal-best time of 28:23.5.
After a week off, the Racers are back in action, October 13 when they travel to Evansville, Indiana, to race in the UE Invitational.
