The Murray State men's golf team went from sixth place to second Tuesday with a scintillating 13-under-par 275 in the final round of the Big Blue Intercollegiate at Hermitage Golf Club in Nashville, Tenn.
Â
The round was the fifth-lowest in the 17th seasons of the Coach Eddie Hunt era at Murray State and it was the fourth-lowest this season in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Â
Avery Edwards carded his career low score at Murray State as the junior posted a 6-under-par 66 and jumped from 15th to second after 54 hole scores of 74-69-66=209 for his career-best total score. Edwards almost caught medalist winner Bryce Beeler of Tennessee Tech who finished one shot ahead at 208.
Â

Taking their home course out, the score was the best for an Eddie Hunt team since a 274 at the Southern Showdown in 2004 in Springfield, Missouri at Rivercut Golf Course.
Â
The Hermitage's President's Reserve course played to a par of 71 and 7,020 yards.
Â
On the horizon for the Racers is the OVC Championship (April 21-23) at The Shoals GC in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
