Tee Time – Racers Face Govs In Popeye’s Battle of the Border Match Play

Hopkinsville Country Club is the site of the first match play event between old rivals Murray State and Austin Peay
The Murray State vs Austin Peay rivalry has decades of history as one of college athletics' greatest rivalries. That is true no matter the sport and it will be again when the
men's golf teams from each university get together Saturday for a single match-play event in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Hopkinsville Country Club hosts the competition between the Racers and Governors Saturday starting at noon.
The format is singles match play and there are nine head-to-head competitions. In the event a match is tied after 18 holes, the match will play extra holes until there is a winner. With each match win counting for one point, there are a total of nine points available and the first team to five points will be declared the winner.

The Racers have 15 programs including men's teams for baseball, basketball, cross country, football and golf and women's teams for basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field and volleyball, as well as a mixed gender rifle team. Currently a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, the Racers will join the Missouri Valley Conference on July 1, 2022.
