Kayla Bell Named MVC Women’s Co-Track Athlete Of The Week

The senior runner from Lynwood, Illinois clocked the fastest 400-meter time in the country on Saturday.
Senior Kayla Bell was named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Co-Track Athlete of the Week along with Southern Illinois' Iaunia Pointer, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Bell was nominated for her dominant win in the 400-meter dash at the Saluki Fast Start in Carbondale, Ill. on Saturday. She clocked a time of 55.32 adjusted to 54.60 for track size, which was the fastest in the country for the event among all Division I qualifying athletes.
Although Bell's time was adjusted, her time was still better than Memphis' Gabrielle Cross (55.33) with the second-fastest 400-meter.
Bell and the women's track and field team return to competition after the winter break at the Commodore Challenge in Nashville, Tennessee on January 12-13.
