Racers Fall Despite Outhitting Blazers

Murray State baseball fell 4-2 to UAB despite collecting more hits overall
Murray State baseball dropped its contest with UAB 4-2 on Friday afternoon at the Hoover Met Stadium in Hoover, Alabama. Sophomore Carson Garner led the Racers with three hits to go with an RBI in the matchup.

The Racers were unable to complete the comeback as UAB scored all four of their runs in the first inning before MSU began chipping away. Taylor Howell would plate the first run for Murray State in the third inning on an RBI single to score shortstop Riley Hawthorne for his fifth RBI of the season.

Garner would plate the Racers second run on a sixth-inning RBI single to score Brennan McCullough. McCullough and Cade Sammons each had a two-hit performance for the Racers while Hawthorne grabbed a hit of his own.

Relievers Ben Krizen and Thomas McNabb combined for two scoreless, hitless innings while allowing just one walk. McNabb struck out four over 1.1 innings pitched while Krizen did his work through two fly ball outs.

Murray State and UAB will square off once again on Saturday for game two of the three game set with a first pitch time set for 2 p.m. CT.
