Murray State baseball won its Tuesday evening matchup with North Alabama 9-6

Murray State baseball won its Tuesday afternoon matchup at North Alabama 9-6 in Florence, Alabama. The Racers never trailed in the contest, picking up 11 hits against the Lions.

Outfielder Cade Sammons led the Racers with two hits and three RBIs against UNA while also reaching base twice more with two walks. The middle infield combo of Logan Bland and Drew Vogel, who made his season debut, combined for a big day at the plate.

Bland picked up his second home run of the year with a solo home run in the fourth inning before picking up another single to go with two runs scored. Vogel shined in his first game of the season, smacking a double while driving in two RBIs and scoring two runs of his own.

Carson Garner continued his impressive campaign, earning two more hits and two runs scored while also stealing a base. Garner now has a .339 batting average and a .542 slugging percentage to lead the Racers.

Matt Boynton picked up his first win of the season in relief, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings with a strikeout. Cade Brown and Ben Krizen each impressed out of the bullpen with 2.0 scoreless innings apiece. Krizen picked up his second save of the campaign while striking out four in the appearance.

Brown and Krizen lead the MSU pitching staff with both pitchers having a sub-1.50 ERA in 2023.

Murray State returns to Johnny Reagan Field this weekend for the final nonconference series of the season against Southern Indiana.
