Racer Bats Shine in Win Over Belmont

Murray State picked up 14 hits in an 11-9 win over rival Belmont
The big bats for MSU were on display thanks in part to Carson Garner and Dustin Mercer who combined for six hits and four RBIs. Garner homered for his third consecutive game after he picked up the walk off blast on Tuesday against North Alabama and hit two long balls yesterday against the Bruins.
Dustin Mercer continued to play like one of the upper echelon players of the Missouri Valley Conference with two base knocks and a two-run triple in the performance. Mercer is now hitting .352 for the year with 23 extra-base hits and a team-high 54 runs scored.Â
Drew Vogel and Taylor Howell each had a multihit outing with Vogel smacking a double with two RBIs and three runs scored while Howell blasted his team-high 10th homer of the year and adding three RBIs.Â
Logan Bland also had a two-hit day out of the leadoff spot for MSU.
Bryce Valero picked up his fourth win of the year on the mound, striking out five and allowing three runs across 5.1 innings pitched.Â
The Racers and Bruins will settle the score tomorrow in the rubber match of the series set for 1 p.m.Â
