Murray State fell 11-4 on Friday afternoon to Southern Illinois
Murray State baseball fell 11-4 to Southern Illinois on Friday afternoon at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. Murray State will end the season in either fifth or sixth place in the MVC based on tomorrow's result.Â
Ethan Krizen led the Racers lineup with a two-hit day while scoring two runs. Logan Bland launched his ninth home run of the season on an opposite-field two-run shot to plate Krizen.Â
Gunnar Bingham smacked a pinch hit double in the ninth inning while Brennan McCullough had an RBI triple to round out the extra-base hits for MSU. Dustin Mercer picked up an RBI single to finish the RBI count for the Racers.
Freshman Ethan Lyke had a solid inning of work on the mound for Murray State, allowing just one run while picking up a strikeout.
The regular season finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday as the Racers will be playing to secure fifth place in the conference standings to outdo the preseason coaches poll which placed them ninth.Â
