Murray State snapped Missouri State's 9 game winning streak before falling in game two
Murray State and Missouri State split their Saturday doubleheader with the Racers taking game one 7-4 before the Bears took game two 8-5 at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. The game one win from the Racers snapped a nine-game winning streak from Missouri State.
Game OneÂ
Logan Bland and Alex Elsing highlighted the win for Murray State as Bland went 2-for-4 with the rare infield double before launching an opposite field home run to end the game with two RBIs and a run scored.Â
Elsing made one of the most impressive appearances on the mound as he tossed 4.2 innings in relief while allowing just one hit from the potent Missouri State offense while walking none and picking up five strikeouts.Â
Allen Roulette earned the win as he picked up right where Elsing left off with 2.2 scoreless, hitless innings of his own with a strikeout.Â
Taylor Howell provided some major insurance in the eighth inning on a two run blast to left field to extend the lead to three runs at 7-4.
Game Two
Riley Hawthorne highlighted the second game for the Racers as he went 3-for-4 in the contest to add onto his two hits in game one. Brennan McCullough added a triple for his third of the season before Carson Garner smacked his ninth double of the season.
On the mound, go to bullpen man Ben Krizen impressed with 2.2 scoreless, hitless innings and a strikeout.Â
Murray State now sits at fifth in the MVC standings with six conference games to play. The Racers will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Indiana State for a battle with the first place Sycamores.Â
