Racers Fall at Kentucky In Third All-Time Meeting

The Racers will wrap up their 100th season next week at Southern Illinois

The Murray State Racers dropped a 48-6 defeat Saturday to the Kentucky Wildcats at Kroger Field in Lexington.

The Racers (1-10) get back to Missouri Valley Football Conference action next Saturday (Nov. 23) when they play the final game of their 100^th season. Murray State travels to Carbondale to face the Southern Illinois Salukis in a noon kick off.

The Wildcats turned a pair of Murray State passes into interceptions and eventually touchdowns to take a 24-0 lead at halftime.

The Racers had a drive into the Red Zone, but couldn't score in the first half.

James London continued his great kicking for the Racers when he made a 32-yard field goal in the final minute of the third quarter and another of 36 yards at the start of the fourth quarter.

The Racers ended the day with 256 total yards to Kentucky's 582.

Game Notes

Today marked the third time for the Racers to meet the Wildcats on the gridiron.
Kentucky has won all three in 2003, 2018 and 2024.
The Racers totaled 132 yards of offense in the first half while the Wildcats had 318 yards.
MSU had 59 yards on the ground and 73 through the air.
With two made field goals today, James London is 14-of-19 this season and leads the MVFC in made field goals in the 2024 season.
London cracked the top-10 all-time for a single season at MSU today, now tied for 10^th place with Gabriel Vincente (2017) and Kienan Cullen (2008, 2009).
MSU's all-time single-season leader is MSU Hall of Famer Rob Hart who kicked 25 field goals for the Racers in 1996.
Next Saturday, the Racers end the regular season, which is the 100^th in program history.
The Racers meet SIU for the 23rd time and the second time as a MVFC game.
The series is tied 10-10-2 with the Salukis having won the last four in 2003, 2016, 2018 and last season as the Racers joined the MVFC in 2023.
