Game Day Story Lines
- It's game-10 of the season for the Murray State Racers as they play their 100th season in program history in 2024.
The Racers will honor their seniors before the game begins.
The Racers play their final of six home games at Roy Stewart Stadium when they host the No. 15 ranked Missouri State Bears in a 1 p.m. kick.
Murray State is taking on Missouri State for a 14th time in their long history that started in 1942 under Racers' legendary Coach Roy Stewart.
The two teams have played some amazingly close and exciting games over the years including their famous Murray State homecoming game of 2010 that the Racers won 72-59.
The Bears are playing their final season in the Missouri Valley Conference and MVFC after they announced last May they are headed to Conference USA as a full-league member, effective July 1, 2025.
The Racers enter the MOST game 24-84-1 all-time since 1978 against ranked teams.
Murray State's last win over a ranked team was in the spring of 2021 41-27 over No. 17 Eastern Illinois at home.
The Racers celebrate the program's 100th season in 2024.
Murray State kicker James London became the first Racer to make five field goals from 50 or more yards in a career when he booted a 55-yarder at South Dakota State last Saturday.
His effort with 3:33 in the first quarter was also his career-long for the Racers and is tied for the fifth-longest in MSU history.
London also made a 54-yard field goal against Mississippi Valley this season and owns the two longest field goals this season in the MVFC.
Who knows? Perhaps London will get the chance to take a kick at the Murray State record field goal of 62 yards by Paul Hickert in 1986.
Next week, the Racers travel to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats before ending the season (Nov. 23) at Southern Illinois.
The amazing season of 2024 is one that has been marked by it's difficulty and the fact that building a program in the best FCS conference in the nation is not easy.
In his rookie season, Coach Jody Wright brought in 65 new players in the fall as the process of building a winner got underway.
The game against the Bears marks the Racers' seventh game in 10 against a ranked team.
The Racers took on the Missouri Tigers (11) in the opener, then faced MVFC opponents North Dakota (8) South Dakota (4), Illinois State (21), North Dakota State (1) and South Dakota State (3) last week.
