- 2024-25 is the 100th season of collegiate basketball at Murray State & third in the Missouri Valley Conference.
- The Racers meet the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the United Airlines Diamond Head Classic.
- MSU meets Nebraska the third time after the two met twice, both MSU wins, in 1990 and 2000.
- The Racers are playing their first Christmas Week tournament event since they last played in Honolulu in 1998.
- Under MSU Hall of Fame Coach, Tevester Anderson, the Racers defeated Southwest Louisiana, sandwiched by losses to Florida State and Charlotte.
- The Racers will play three games this week including on Christmas Day, just their second such game after one in 1997 when MSU upset Arkansas in Puerto Rico.
- The Racers get a second round game at the Diamond Head event against either Charlotte or Hawaii.
- MSU is coming off a 84-74 defeat Wednesday in Terre Haute against Indiana State as the Racers nearly came back after trailing by 22 points with 13 minutes remaining.
- The Racers dropped to 1-1 in the MVC as they return to league play at home Jan. 2 against Illinois State.
- The Racers have started the same five in all seven games: JaCobi Wood, Terence Harcum, Kylen Milton, AJ Ferguson and Nick Ellington.
- Harcum has hit a 3-pointer in all 10 games this season for the Racers.
