Racers Stay Undefeated in MVC Play, Sweep UNI

Racers swept Northern Iowa in Sunday match, are only undefeated team left in MVC play
Murray State women's tennis defeated Northern Iowa on Sunday in a swept match, going 7-0 on the day. The Racers are the only undefeated team in the Missouri Valley Conference during conference play, starting on a 3-0 run.
The Racers started out the morning with dominant doubles matches. Doubles pairs Emma Honore/Natalie Slezakova won at the number one spot 6-2, and Sarah Bureau/Annika Pschorr swept their opponents 6-0. Bureau and Pschorr are 28-7 overall as a doubles pair in their careers. With a walk-over at the third doubles flight due to Northern Iowa not having enough players, the Racers clinched the doubles point. The Racers are now 31-9 overall in doubles play this spring.
MSU headed into singles play with an automatic walk-over win at the sixth flight. The Racers continued their hot streak, with four of the five singles matches being won in straight sets. Bureau earned her 10th singles win this spring, defeating UNI's Andrijana Brkic 6-2, 6-1. Graduate Emma Honore clinched the match for the Racers with her singles win at the number two spot. This is Honore's second match clinching win for the Racers this weekend.
"This was the tale of two different matches with two things in common, our play in doubles and our overall competitiveness," Coach Jorge Caetano said. "We had to move indoors against UNI on Sunday so I thought it was going to throw us off a little bit, but it did not. We played great and our decision making was on point from start to finish."
