Racers Fall in Four to Braves

Murray State returns home to host Evansville.
The Murray State Racers fell to the Bradley Braves in four sets on Friday night at Racer Arena in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers (3-15, 1-8 MVC) remain at the bottom of the Missouri Valley Conference standings after dropping their third straight. The Braves (9-12, 3-6 MVC) improved to seventh with the win, one game out of the MVC tournament.
The Braves came out hot in the first set, hitting .652 with 16 kills and just one error to win 25-18. The Racers struck back in the second set, hitting .400 with 14 kills and a pair of errors. Alex Watts and Ella Vogel had four kills each, leading Murray State to a 25-18 win to tie the match 1-1.
Bradley responded with another big set in the third, putting up 17 kills on its way to a 25-21 win that put the Braves ahead 2-1 going into the fourth set. The fourth set was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to pull away. However, the Braves' powerful offense delivered another set win as they totaled 19 kills on .311 hitting to claim a 25-23 win and clinch the match.
Ella Vogel led the Racers with 18 kills and added four block assists. She improved her career kill total to 1,221, surpassing Lee Ann Allen to become sixth in Racer history.
Alexa Watts put up 10 kills, and Haidi Miliou added eight along with a pair of block assists. Paige Brock recorded a double-double with 23 assists and 12 digs, while Katie Titus tallied 21 assists. Federica Nuccio led the team with 14 digs and added six kills, while libero Samantha Nelson contributed 13.
Three Braves finished with double-digit kills, as Mairen Mannon had 20, Tendai Titley had 19 and Gracie Furlong had 13. MVC assist leader Maria Drapp recorded 45 assists, and Irene Mostradini led the team with 22 digs.
The Racers return on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 5 p.m. CT to host the Evansville Purple Aces at Racer Arena. Dave Winder will have the call on ESPN+.
