Racers Set to Host Gamecocks at Pat Spurgin Rifle Range

The Murray State Racers are hosting the Jacksonville State Gamecocks for a home match at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range in Murray, Kentucky.

Last weekend, the Racers shot a pair of matches in Oxford, Mississippi, at Ole Miss.  In the first match of the weekend on Saturday, the Racers came just one point short of tying the school record in air rifle, firing a 2379. They added a score of 2337 in smallbore for an aggregate of 4716. They shot another 4716 on Sunday with a 2340 in smallbore and a 2376 in air rifle.

Through the early part of the season, sophomore Carlotta Salafia has led the Racers with an average aggregate of 1184.25. She has been an air rifle standout all season with an average of 598.25. Freshman Lea Soulé has burst onto the scene, being one of the top shooters for the Racers all season, including an 1184 against Jacksonville State on Sunday.

Last weekend against the Racers, the Gamecocks tallied a 4661 with a 2303 smallbore and 2358 air rifle. Frans Rasmusson led the Gamecocks with a 584 smallbore, 591 air rifle, and an aggregate of 1175 to finish fourth individually.
