Murray State women's basketball took down Memphis 85-57 in front of record crowd for Education Day
Murray State put together a dominant perforance to defeat Memphis 85-57 at the CFSB Center on Monday morning. 4,513 were in attendance for the annual Education Day game, setting a new standalone attendance record for the program.
The Racers wasted no time gaining control of the contest, erupting for 28 points in the first quarter to take an 11-point lead. They continued their offensive firepower in the second period, outscoring the Tigers 25-12 to build a 53-29 advantage at halftime. MSU held Memphis to just 28 points over the final two quarters to coast to the 28-point victory.
Halli Poock paced the Racers with a stellar double-double performance, dropping 22 points on 8-of-18 shooting, including 4 three-pointers, while pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds. Haven Ford flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and a game-high 8 assists. Sharnecce Currie-Jelks and Keslyn Secrist each added 15 points, with Ford and Currie-Jelks combining for 15 rebounds to help the Racers dominate the glass.
