Murray State’s Trey Wall qualified for the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship after winning the MVC title last month

Â
A redshirt freshman from Benton, Kentucky, Wall qualified for the NCAAs when he won the Missouri Valley Conference individual championship (April 22) at Des Moines Country Club in Iowa.
Â
Gaining the MVC's spot in the NCAA as the league's medalist (70-67-69=206) Wall is in a highly competitive 54-hole event at Atkins Golf Club that will play as a par-71 and 7,533 yards in three days of play (Monday through Wednesday).
Â
Wall is joined in Urbana by MVC members, Illinois State, who was the conference's team champion and Valparaiso's Anthony Delisanti who is also in the field as an individual player.
Monday's tee time for Trey Wall is 9:50 a.m. Central Time from the No. 1 tee and he'll have Titus Boswell (IU Indianapolis) and Andrew Flynn (Wright State) as playing partners.
Â
The Urbana event is one of six regional sites. The sites/courses include: Auburn UC; Auburn, Ala., Seminole Legacy GC; Tallahassee, Fla., Poplar Grove GC; Amherst, Virginia, Montreux GC; Reno, Nevada, and Gold Mountain GC; Bremerton, Washington.
Â
Wall can advance to the NCAA Championship at the North Course at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. (May 23-28) if he is the low individual (not on a qualifying team).
Â
The last time the Racers had an individual in the NCAA Men's Golf Regional as a solo player was 2013 when Patrick Newcomb (2020 Murray State Hall of Fame) played Blessings GC in Fayetteville, Arkansas and placed 58th on scores of 76-80-82=238. Another MSU Hall of Famer, Cameron Carrico (class of 2023) played the NCAAs in 2011 in Zionsville, Indiana at Wolf Run GC and placed 34th on scores of 81-69-72=222.
Â
In 2010, the Racers were Ohio Valley Conference champions for Coach Eddie Hunt with a tremendous team of Carrico, Newcomb, his brother Nick, who is also a Murray State Hall of Famer from 2020, Jared Wolfe and Chris Griffin. The best finish for the Racers came from Wolfe, who placed 39th on rounds of 73-73-70=216.
