
Racers Fall to Musketeers in Stacheville Challenge Finale

MSU returns Friday for Billiken Invitation
The Murray State Racers (1-2) fell to the Xavier Musketeers (3-0) 3-1 in their final game at the Stacheville Challenge in Clarksville, Tenn. on Saturday.
The Racers dropped the first set 25-17 before rallying to win a marathon of a second set. After trailing 20-16, the Racers refused to go away and eventually won set two 30-28. However, they were unable to carry momentum into the following sets, losing 25-11 and 25-10. Â
The Racers finished with a .083 hitting percentage, 38 kills, 34 assists, and 55 digs. Â
Federica Nuccio led all players with 14 kills and added ten digs for a double-double. Katie Titus put up 18 assists, while Paige Brock added 11 of her own. Titus also recorded 10 digs for a double-double of her own, while Halle Forester led the team with 16.Â
Macy Hatkevich led all players with 28 assists for the Musketeers, and Kelsey Niesen led the way with 25 digs. Â
The Racers will continue their non-conference schedule in St. Louis, Mo., at the Billiken Invitational. They will open on Friday, September 5, with matches against Western Illinois and Saint Louis before facing Austin Peay on Saturday, September 6.Â
