Five Racers finished in the top 10 individually, with Mallory Johnson leading the way in second and Ashley Haymond following in fifth.

After her 581 in smallbore, Haymond went big in air rifle, firing a 597 with 51 centers to lead the Racers and place second individually. Johnson and Lawrence took sixth and seventh with matching 591s, as Johnson totaled 43 centers and Lawrence had 41. Soulé and Abby Ballard took 11th and 12th with scores of 587, and Martin followed in 13th with a 586.
Johnson led the Racers in aggregate, placing second overall with an 1183 and 80 centers, while Haymond took fifth with an 1178 and 80 centers of her own. Soulé placed sixth with an 1176, Martin took eighth with an 1169 and Lawrence rounded out the top 10 with an 1162.
Morehead State opened its season with a home sweep of Mount Aloysius on Oct. 3-4. The Eagles improved their aggregate by 20 points from Saturday to Sunday, finishing the weekend with a 4,689 at Button Range. That Sunday total included a 2,321 in smallbore and a 2,368 in air rifle, the latter tied for the third-best air score in program history. Freshman Ysabelle Martinez led all shooters with an 1178 aggregate and a 585 in smallbore, and she and junior Trey Myers both fired 593s in air rifle.
The two programs met in a close finish at last season's OVC Championship, where Murray State claimed its sixth-straight and 20th overall conference title with a 4687, while Morehead State placed second at 4669.Â
