MURRAY, Ky. - Breece Bass scored in the 66th minute and Murray State outshot Indiana State 15-5 in a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon at Cutchin Field, where the Racers honored seven seniors before kickoff and extended their unbeaten run to five matches.
Murray State (3-8-5, 2-2-3 MVC) has not lost since Sept. 26, the longest such run of its season. The Racers took 11 of their 15 shots after halftime against Indiana State (7-2-7, 2-1-4 MVC), earned 13 corner kicks to the Sycamores' two and held 54 percent of possession.
"I was happy with the attack we generated in the second half." Head coach Ben Madsen said, "We didn't generate much in the first half, but I thought we were dangerous in the second. We were able to do some damage on the flank, get some balls crossed into the box, and we had a chance with a couple of them."
Junior goalkeeper Isa De Santos Gomez made her first appearance of the season, going the full 90 minutes and making two saves. The Sycamores did not put a shot on target in the second half and managed one attempt after the break.
The Sycamores took an initial lead with a goal in the 23rd minute. Murray State answered after the interval, pushing Indiana State back for long stretches and winning nine corners in the second half alone. Bass levelled from close range in the 66th, her fourth goal of the season and the 11th of her career, and the Racers kept coming, putting eight of their 15 attempts on target.
Kendyll English had three shots with two on goal and senior defender Kate Stordy put both of her attempts on target.
The draw leaves Murray State on nine points in Missouri Valley play with matches remaining at Evansville on Nov. 1 and against Belmont on Nov. 5.
