Murray, Ky. – Looking to build on a four-game winning streak, Murray State baseball will take on the Mercyhurst Lakers in a four-game weekend series at Trevecca Nazarene University. This weekend's series is the final scheduled neutral-site home series for the Racers.
This weekend's games will be the first time the two programs have ever met.
The Racers have shown resilience lately, posting two straight comeback wins. Murray State trailed Butler 2-0 in the weekend series finale and fell behind 5-1 at UT Martin before topping the Skyhawks 7-5 in Tuesday's matchup.
Mercyhurst enters the weekend with an 0-3 record following a series at Wofford. The Lakers were run-ruled in all three games, getting outscored 3-35 across the weekend. The Lakers joined NCAA Division I athletics ahead of the 2025 season and posted a 17-35 record in their first year in the Northeast Conference.
The Racers and Lakers open the weekend Friday at 3 p.m. Saturday features a twin bill starting at noon, with the second game (seven innings) to follow 30 minutes after game one. The series concludes Sunday with first pitch at 1 p.m.
No games this weekend are available to stream due to the neutral site, but fans are encouraged to follow along via live stats on GoRacers.com and through @RacersBaseball on Instagram and X.
Players to Watch
Murray State has generated plenty of hits throughout the start of the season, with five players batting above .300. Parker Airhart leads the roster with a .571 average, which ranks fifth in the nation, along with five multi-hit games.
Mistone leads the team with 17 hits, a mark that ties him for fifth nationally. He enters the weekend on an eight-game hitting streak. Through eight games this season, Mistone has posted multi-hit performances in six contests, averaging two hits per game in 2026.
Schutte is coming off an exceptional start against Butler last weekend. He tossed seven scoreless innings on the mound, allowing just two hits and recording nine strikeouts. The consensus preseason MVC Pitcher of the Year looks to continue his stellar start to his 2026 campaign as he seeks his third win in as many starts.
First pitch tomorrow is set for 3 p.m. central at Trevecca Nazarene University.
