Racers Head to Murfreesboro for Blue Raider Bash

Murray State will once again hit the road this weekend, traveling to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the Blue Raider Bash. The Racers will play twice Friday before closing out the weekend Saturday afternoon.
Match Information
The Racers (1-5) open the weekend against Northern Colorado (1-4) at 10 a.m. CT Friday. With 1,076 miles separating the two schools, Friday will mark the first meeting between the programs. It will also be Murray State's ninth all-time matchup against a Big Sky opponent, with the Racers holding a 1-7 record against the conference.
Murray State will return to the court at 4:30 p.m. CT to take on Georgia State (2-4). The Racers have had success in the brief series, winning both previous meetings in straight sets. The two programs last met in September 2023.
The Racers will wrap up the Blue Raider Bash against host Middle Tennessee (4-2) at 3 p.m. CT Saturday. The two programs are no strangers to each other, having met 44 times, including 42 matchups during the 1980s and 1990s. They have met just twice this century, with the most recent matchup coming in 2009. Murray State leads the all-time series 32-12.
Racers Leaders and Notes
Murray State picked up its first win of the season last weekend in DeKalb, Ill., sweeping Northern Illinois to give head coach Tristyn Krzos her first win at the helm. Freshman Maezi Snyder hit .462 in the victory as the Racers earned their first sweep since 2024.
Anne Makowski has been the Racers' biggest threat offensively through the first six matches. The sophomore leads Murray State with 68 kills and 3.40 kills per set, including a career-high 18 kills in the season opener against Southern Indiana. Her 68 kills rank 10th in the MVC.
The Racers have also gotten plenty of production from their freshman class. Snyder has started all six matches and leads all MVC freshmen with a .338 hitting percentage to go along with 32 kills and 13 blocks. Libero Ada Tamturk has made an early impact on the back row, leading Murray State with 63 digs and 3.15 digs per set, which leads all MVC freshmen in both categories.
Senior setter Paige Brock has helped run the offense with 114 assists while also leading the Racers with eight service aces, which are good for ninth and eighth in the MVC respectively. At the net, Lily Evans leads Murray State with 16 blocks through six matches.
The weekend will also be a homecoming for Krzos. After picking up her first win as Murray State's head coach last weekend, the Murfreesboro native will return home to lead the Racers at the Blue Raider Bash.
