Inna Sweeps Singles as Racers Close Austin Peay Invitational

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Senior Aada Inna won all three of her singles matches and Murray State Women's Tennis closed the Austin Peay Invitational on Sunday at the Governors Tennis Courts, going 8-11 in singles and 1-8 in doubles over the three-day event.
Inna was the only Racer to finish unbeaten. The Luumaki, Finland, native and Nicholls State transfer beat Chattanooga opponents twice and an Alabama A&M opponent once without dropping a set, and her 6-3, 6-3 win on Friday was Murray State's lone victory across both singles and doubles on the opening day. She and senior Valeria Chaikovskaia combined for the Racers' only doubles win of the weekend, a 6-1 result over Alabama A&M on Saturday.
Saturday was the strongest of the three days, where Murray State went 4-2 in singles against Alabama A&M, with Chaikovskaia, junior Yu Kikawa, senior Varvara Alexeyeva and Inna all winning. Alexeyeva needed 12 games, taking her match 6-0, 6-0, and Kikawa won 6-2, 6-2.
Kikawa and Alexeyeva each finished 2-1. Kikawa's Sunday win over Austin Peay came in a third-set tiebreak, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7, and Alexeyeva closed the weekend with a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Chattanooga.
The Racers entered seven of their nine players and were 1-6 in singles on Friday against Chattanooga and Alabama A&M, 4-2 on Saturday against Alabama A&M, and 3-3 on Sunday against Austin Peay and Chattanooga.
