Racers Post First Shutout of Season in Scoreless Draw at Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Murray State women's soccer recorded its first clean sheet of the 2026 season on Thursday night, holding Marshall scoreless through 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw at Hoops Family Field.
"Super proud of the effort." Head coach Ben Madsen said, "Defended really well against a really good team. Had some opportunities to put the game away ourselves but couldn't capitalize. We're going to keep getting better in that area, just super excited with where we're going."
The result leaves Murray State at 0-4-2 and marks the first time the Racers have kept an opponent off the scoreboard this season. Marshall moved to 3-1-2 and was held without a goal for just the second time this season after entering the night averaging two goals per match.
Revolorio turned aside both shots she faced on target, making saves in the 13th and 45th minutes. The senior finished with a shutout despite Marshall putting 18 shots toward goal, and Murray State's back line accounted for the rest, steering 16 of those attempts wide or over the bar.
The Herd controlled the opening 45 minutes, earning six of their seven corner kicks before the break while Murray State went without a shot in the first half. The Racers found their footing after halftime and put all five of their attempts on the board in the second period.
Reagan Tate opened the run with a try in the 55th minute. Gabby Ramdeen followed with attempts in the 65th and 69th minutes, and Addison Howell added one in the 71st. Breece Bass supplied the best look of the night in the 90th minute, forcing the only save Marshall's goalkeeper was asked to make.
Murray State remains unbeaten all time against Marshall at 2-0-2, with the series now including a draw in the first meeting ever played in Huntington.
Murray State returns to Cutchin Field on Sunday, Sept. 6, to host Austin Peay. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT.
Post Game Notes
- The shutout was the 16th of Revolorio's career, moving her further into third place in program history behind Alex Steigerwald (27) and Tara Isbell (25).
- Revolorio now has 217 career saves and needs three more to pass Jenna Villacres for fourth on Murray State's all-time list.
- Marshall's two shots on goal are the fewest any opponent has managed against the Racers this season.
- Bass has recorded at least one shot in all six matches, the only Murray State player to do so.
- The Racers have gone unbeaten in two of their last three matches, drawing UT Martin 2-2 on Aug. 27 and Marshall on Thursday.
- The draw was Murray State's first point of the season away from Cutchin Field. The Racers are 0-2-1 both at home and on the road.
