Murray State University Athletics
The Murray State men's basketball team knocked off Poissy BC Thursday 113-46 to make it a perfect 4-0 on their tour that began in Spain, went through Greece and ended in France. Head Coach Ryan Miller and senior Ben Shtolzberg comment on the trip helped set the stage for the coming 2026-27 basketball season. We also get ready for the 2026 Murray Sate soccer season as the Racers play at Ole Miss Friday and host Missouri Sunday at Cutchin Field.

The Racers won going away in a 110-72 victory Monday to make it a 3-0 showing in their 2026 tour of Europe. Dave Winder shares a highlight dunk by Lachlan Crate and a recap of the game that saw 10 Racers score. Dave Winder has updates from France as the Racer Basketball gets ready for two games to end their three-country challenge. Dave winder has another installment of the Runnin' with The Racers Podcast, the program that has featured 68 Murray State Hall of Fame members. Coach Buddy Hewitt started his Murray State career as an all-star for Racer Football and later launched the Murray State men's golf program in 1961, and that led to him nurturing his student-athletes for next 41 years. Hewitt remains one of the larger-than-life figures in MSU history and was inducted into the MSU Hall in 1990. He passed away in 2015, three months from his 88th birthday. On the program today, his daughter Lynn Dowdy, current Murray State Golf Coach Jacob Miller, former MSU Coach Eddie Hunt and former Hewitt player John Hobby share their thoughts about Buddy Hewitt.

In Murray State Football lore, one of the biggest plays in the 100-year plus history of the program icame from kicker by Shane Andrus. In 2002, the Racers hosted the No. 2 Eastern Illinois Panthers, led by quarterback Tony Romo at Roy Stewart Stadium, and by the end of the day, Andrus had his moment. He booted a 52-yard field goal on the final play to give the Racers a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title. Among those who remember that day are the Voice of the Racers Neal Bradley and EIU's Mike Bradd, MSU Head Coach Joe Pannunzio and Andrus.

In the more than 100-year history of Murray State Basketball, there are a handful of games which creates the thought "How did we just win that game?" In February of 1994, Racers' head coach Scott Edgar and his team had one of those games with OVC rival Southeast Missouri when not only did they erase an 18-point deficit with 4:31 remaining, Marcus Jones scored five points in the final five seconds as the Racers clinched another league championship. Dave Winder is joined by Coach Edgar and Neal Bradley, the Voice of the Racers.
