Fisher remains as one of Murray State’s all-time great running backs.
A regular in the Racer backfield form 1969 through the 1971 season was MSU's first 1,000-yard rusher.
Was honored as Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year as a junior in 1971 when he accumulated 1,078 yards to lead the league in rushing.
His top rushing effort came in 1971 against Middle Tennessee when he ran for 214 yards in 31 carries.
Although hampered by injuries, Fisher ran for a career total 2,292 yards and scored 19 touchdowns.
As of 2019, he is still the fourth all-time rusher and seventh for a single season at MSU.
Fisher had an interesting professional career that included some time with the NFL’s St. Louis Cardinals and in the upstart World Football League.
Fisher remains in Murray after a hall of fame high school coaching career at Murray High School from 1990-2005 where we had a record of 129-54 and a winning percentage of 70 percent.
Fisher was inducted into the MHS Hall of Fame in the second class to be honored in 2018.
Fisher's Tigers will always be part of MHS and Kentucky prep football lore for their part in the famous 1994 Murray vs Beechwood state championship game that is still talked about for its controversial ending.
Out of the football crazy state of Ohio, Fisher was a hard-nosed bull-dozing power tail back from Shelby High School, where he and his Whipetts teammates nearly went through their careers without a loss.
Fisher was attracted to Murray State because of his connection with Coach Mike Gottfried who was an assistant for Head Coach Bill Fergerson.
