Terry Love -Â Football 1979-1980
Â
Out of Maywood, Ill., Terry Love was a mainstay in a highly successful period of Murray State Football.
Coming to Murray State from the College of the Canyons, Love had two All-OVC seasons for the Racers that helped MSU win the OVC Championship in 1979. The OVC title led MSU into their first NCAA appearance.
Love was a dominant force on the defensive side of the ball. He racked up more than 150 tackles in his two seasons and had three interceptions. In the Racers' televised game on ABC in 1979, Love was named the Chevrolet Player of the Game after the Racers defeated Eastern Kentucky 24-7.
Â
Love was an All-OVC selection in each of his MSU seasons and as a senior in 1979, he was named OVC Defensive Player of the year and Associated Press and Kodak First Team All-America.
Love also enjoyed a professional career playing for the Boston Breakers and Memphis Showboats of the United States Football League and the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. He had four pro interceptions from 1983-87.
