Racers Fall to Redhawks
2/14/2015 5:28:00 PM | Women's Basketball
Murray State women's basketball team fell to Southeast Missouri 88-66 at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. MSU is 4-3 under head coach Rob Cross when playing a team for a second time in the season when they win the first game at home.
Â
Murray State (7-19, 2-11 OVC) came into the game looking for their second win against Southeast Missouri this season. However, SEMO (10-16, 3-10 OVC) would not let that happen so easily on their home court. Murray State used their quick momentum to hustle down court and get shots to fall. The Redhawks were able to get big stops and go on big runs during the first half. The Racers saving grace in the first half was shooting 12-for-13 from the charity stripe.
Â
The Redhawks continued to dominate on the floor, but Murray State continued its dominance on the free-throw line. Murray State was outrebounded in the first half 16-21, but was able to gain control and grab boards to tie for rebounds. The team gave it all they had, but it was not enough to stop SEMO at the Show Me Center. Southeast Missouri took another conference win 88-66.
Â
Ke'Shunan James notched her second double-double of the season coming off a team-high 20 points and 10 rebounds. LeAsia Wright added 14 points, while going 10-for-11 from the charity stripe. Netanya Jackson was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line, while the team was 28-for-33.
Â
Murray State will return home to the CFSB Center to face Eastern Illinois on Wednesday at 7 p.m.Â
