All-Time vs. SEMO: SEMO leads 35-26
Last Meeting: MSU 59, SEMO 96 – Feb. 3, 2016
The Murray State women's basketball team looks to extend its two-game winning streak Saturday as the Racers welcome Southeast Missouri to "The Bank" for a 5 p.m. tip. The Racers are coming off their biggest road win of the season Wednesday, when they defeated SIU Edwardsville 79-76.
Ke'Shunan James led MSU with 20 points in the victory and registered 10 rebounds, giving James her fourth double-double of the season. Kyra Gulledge also had a double-double in the game, scoring a career-high 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbing a game-best 11 rebounds. It was Gulledge's third double-double of the season and the third time this season that Gulledge and James have tallied double-doubles in the same game.
The past two contests MSU has used a new starting lineup, consisting of Jasmine Borders, Abria Gulledge, Kyra Gulledge, James and LeAsia Wright. Those five have averaged 77 points per contest in the two wins and have scored 88 percent of the team's points.
The Redhawks have a balanced offensive attack and are led by Brianna Mitchell's 12.6 points and Erin Bollman's 11.6 points per game. Imani Johnson is third on the team averaging 9.3 points per contest coming off the bench. Deja Jones leads the team in rebounding with 6.8 boards per contest and is averaging 7.2 points per game. Adrianna Murphy's 5.6 assists per game during OVC play rank second in the league.
In the first game with the Racers, Hannah Noe recorded a career-high 22 points and hit six of her 10 3-point attempts. SEMO is led by Head Coach Rekha Patterson. The Redhawks enter Saturday having lost two straight.
Currently, the Racers are in a four-way tie with Jacksonville State, Tennessee State and Austin Peay for sixth-place in the OVC at 5-7. If the OVC Tournament started today, MSU would be the eighth and final seed in the tournament. JSU and TSU own the tiebreaker over the Racers due to their head-to-head wins, while MSU owns the tiebreaker with APSU with its victory over the Governors last Saturday. The Racers and Govs meet again Feb. 20.
Saturday's contest with SEMO will be a doubleheader along with the men's team.
