Kansas scored a run in each of the last five innings as the Jayhawks rallied past Murray State Wednesday afternoon in Lawrence, Kan., defeating the Racers 14-8 in the finale of the two's short two-game series.

The Racers (8-11) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning on a three-run home run to left center from Ramsey Scott. It was Scott's second homer of the season and his team-leading sixth of the year. MSU would later go up 4-0 when Cody Gilbert scored on a wild pitch.

After KU (7-8) got a run on the board in the bottom of the second, the Racers were able to regain a four-run lead when Adam Bauer led off the third with a triple and would later score on an error from the Jayhawks.

Kansas scored the next six runs of the game with a four-run fourth inning and two more runs in the fifth to take a 7-5 lead. However, the Racers were able to retake the lead in the top of the sixth with a three-run inning. Tyler Dixon and Reed Thompson both had RBI hits in the inning to give the Racers an 8-7 lead. The lead didn't last long though as the Jayhawks got three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning and were able to lengthen the lead with a run in the seventh and a three-run eighth inning.

MSU had eight different players record a hit in the loss with Thompson leading the way with two hits on the day. Bauer led the Racers with a pair of runs in the contest.
The Racers used six different pitchers in the game with Cody Maerz getting the start and no decision has he pitched two innings. Sheldon Baxter, Andrew Bramley, Blake Clynes, Chad Gendron and Brandon Hicks all made appearances out of the bullpen with Baxter taking the loss.

Wednesday's game ends the Racers' season-high six-game road trip. MSU returns to OVC action this weekend as SIU Edwardsville comes to Reagan Field for a three-game series. The series begins Friday at 4 p.m.
