MSU Ends Weekend Meet With First Place Team Finish

The Murray State women's track and field team finished their weekend in first place in the open division at the Hillsdale College "Gina" Relays on Saturday. The team also finished ninth in the championship division.
Emma Gilmore led the way for the Racers in the 800 meter championship division. She ran just off her season best as she finished in tenth with a time of 2:13. Emani Griffin set a personal record in the event as she ran 2:15. Her time ranks tenth in the outdoor record book.
Murray State had many impressive performances in the 1,500 meters. Leah Krause scored for MSU as she finished in seventh place with a time of 4:44. Rebekah Priddy had a personal record as she finished in 11th with a time of 4:47. Ida Mutai (5:05), Emily Flaherty (5:11), and Emily Evans (5:12) all set personal records in the event.
The Racers had three runners score in the 3,000 meters. Krause finished in fourth place with a time of 10:32. Caroline Grogan finished closely behind in fifth with a time of 10:33. Meagan Smith rounded out the Racers in seventh place with a season best time of 10:45.
Emily Heil tied a her personal record in the pole vault. The freshman finished in fifth place as she vaulted 3.42 meters (11'2.5"). Christina Meinhardt finished in eighth in the discus. The freshman threw a personal best 39.91 meters (130' 11").
Jabreuna Brimlett and Jill Jachino made the finials in the triple jump. Brimlett finished in sixth with a jump of 11.55 meters (27' 10.75"). Jachino placed ninth as with a jump of 11.34 meters (37'2.5").
The 4 x 100 meter relay team composed of Tamdra Lawrence, Victoria Yocum, Anna Curlin , and Jocelyn Payne finished in fourth place with a time of 47.22. The 4 x400 meter relay team of Curlin, Weston, Payne, and Lawrence finished in second with a time of 3:54. Both relay team ran season bests.
The Racers set their sights on the OVC Outdoor Championships for their next meet. Murray State travels to Nashville to take on the rest of the conference on May 13.Â
