Gamecocks Too Much in Game Two

The Murray State baseball team came up short in game two of the Racers' three-game series with league-leading Jacksonville State on Saturday, falling 22-7. The Gamecocks scored in each of the first four innings and in six innings overall.
The Racers (15-19, 5-9 OVC) started the game with four consecutive hits and took an early 3-0 lead. Tyler Lawrence's double to center field scored Kipp Moore for the first run of the game and in the next at-bat, Ramsey Scott delivered a two-run single to right, scoring Adam Bauer and Lawrence.
After JSU (21-9, 10-0 OVC) scored a run in the bottom half of the first, the Gamecocks took their first lead of the day with a three-run home run from Josh Bobo, making it 4-3. Bobo hit three homers on the day. However, MSU would respond in the top of the third with another three-run inning to go up 6-4.
Scott collected an RBI single in the top of the third and was followed by Tyler Dixon's two-run single to left field two batters later to put MSU up. The Racers collected four consecutive two-out hits in the third. The Gamecocks wouldn't stay down for long though, scoring five runs in the bottom of the third to take a 9-6 lead and wouldn't look back from there.
A nine-run eighth inning by JSU really lengthened the final margin in the contest. MSU's lone run outside of the first three innings came when Dixon scored on a passed ball in the top of the eighth.
Scott went 3-for-4 at the dish with the three RBIs in the loss while Dixon and Lawrence both had a pair of hits on the day. Lawrence scored a team-high two runs and had a pair of doubles. John Lollar got the start on the mound and took his first loss of the season.
The series finale in this three-game set is at 1 p.m., Sunday at Abbott Field.
