Morehead State scored seven first inning runs and Murray State was unable to overcome the early deficit as the Racers fell 12-6 Friday night at Reagan Field. The loss eliminates MSU from contention for the OVC Tournament.

After Morehead's (31-24, 17-12) seven-run first, the Racers (26-29, 14-15 OVC) got a run of their own in the first on a Ramsey Scott RBI single up the middle, but couldn't do anymore damage as they left two runners on base.

The Eagles added two more runs in the top of the second to lengthen their lead to 9-1, before the Racers clawed their way back into the contest with a five-run third. Aaron Bence, Jack Hranec and Kipp and Nick Moore all had RBI hits in the inning while Nick Moore would also come home on a wild pitch to cut the MSU deficit to 9-6.

That would be all the offense the Racers could muster however, as they would strand runners in the fifth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings and left 10 on the base paths for the game while Morehead left just four runners on. The Eagles would add one more run in the fifth to make it 10-6 before tacking on two in the top of the ninth.

Kipp Moore led the way at the dish with a three-hit night with a run scored. All three of his hits were doubles. Bence and Tyler Lawrence both went 2-for-5 in the loss. Lawrence hit his 22nd double of the season in the contest, setting a new program record for a single season. Scott went 2-for-4 and scored a run as well.

Austin Dubsky took the loss as he allowed six earned runs in the start. John Lollar pitched 5.2 innings of relief and struck-out four batters and allowed three runs. Andrew Bramley pitched three innings out of the bullpen as well in what will likely be his last appearance for the Racers. Bramley struck-out five batters and allowed two earned on three hits in three innings of work.

The series finale of this three-game set is Saturday at 1 p.m. Prior to the game six seniors will be honored as a part of the Senior Day festivities.
