First Pitch
The Racers play their final weekend series of the season before conference play begins as MSU hosts Siena in a three-game set. The Racers are 2-2 so far on the young campaign at Reagan Field. MSU is coming off a 22-0 victory Thursday over Kentucky State. The Racers hit four homers and four doubles in the game.
Inside the Series
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. It is also just the second ever matchup against the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) (Canisius, 2013). The Saints are looking for their first victory of the season. All eight of their games have come on the road this year.
Bauer Power Back Online
Adam Bauer hit a pair of home runs, including a grand slam in the Racers' 22-0 victory over Kentucky State on Thursday. Bauer collected five RBI in the win and scored a pair of runs. The two long balls were Bauer's first two of the season and second and third extra-base hits.
Out of the Gate
Freshman Ryan Perkins has had a great start to his MSU career as he leads the Racers with four home runs and 12 runs scored so far in 2017. Perkins also ranks second in both batting average (.423) and RBIs (8).
Scouting Siena
Joe Drpich and Dan Swain are the only two saints to have started in all eight games in 2017. Brian Kelly leads Siena (min. 10 at-bats) with a .375 batting average this season. Swain is the biggest bat for the Saints as he leads the team with four home runs and seven RBIs and also has a team-high seven runs scored and is 2-for-2 on stolen bases. As a team, the Saints are hitting .220 and are averaging just over three runs per game.
The Siena pitching staff has an ERA of 7.88 and is led by a pair of pitchers with a 0.00 ERA and a team-high three appearances in Alex Brickman and Danny Hobbs. Brendan White leads the Saints with 11 innings pitched this year while Brickman and Matt Pierce each have a team-best five strikeouts. Head Coach Tony Rossi is the longest tenured active coach in Division I as he is in his 48th season with Siena.
