This Weekend
The Murray State volleyball team brings its five-match winning streak back to Racer Arena to take on Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State. The Racers will battle the Golden Eagles, Friday at 7 p.m., before hitting the court with the Gamecocks, Saturday at 2 p.m.
Previous Match
The Racers won their first OVC road matches of the season last weekend as they defeated Tennessee State and Belmont and in the process extended their overall win streak to five matches. The Racers won a hard-fought five-set battle with TSU, Friday, before downing Belmont in four sets, Saturday. Senior Dacia Brown led the Racers in kills in both matches and junior Rachel Giustino recorded two more double-doubles to bring her personal streak to eight straight matches. Sophomore Becca Fernandez recorded a career-high 34 digs against TSU before a 22-dig performance against Belmont, while fellow sophomores Callie Anderton and Ashley McBee tallied 44 assists and 48 assists, respectively, against the Tigers and Bruins.
Home Sweet Home
After winning their first three home matches of 2018, the Racers are now 43-2 at Racer Arena since 2014.
Conference Leaders
Murray State currently has the top two kills leaders in the OVC. Junior Rachel Giustino averages 4.12 kills per set, the only player in the OVC to be above four, while senior Dacia Brown is second in the conference, averaging 3.78.
Giustino Closing in on 1K
After a strong performance last weekend, Rachel Giustino sits just 19 kills shy of 1,000 for her career. She would become just the 14th player in Racer history to accomplish the feat.
