The Game
The Murray State football team will honor its seniors, all military and first responders and the brand new Murray State Hall of Fame Class of 2021 Saturday when it hosts Southeast Missouri in the final home game of the season Saturday at Roy Stewart Stadium in Murray.
The Series At A Glance
Saturday will be the 57th all-time meeting between the Racers and the Redhawks with Murray State leading the way in the all-time series, 42-13-1. Southeast Missouri has won 4 of the last 7 games in the series, however, the Racers have now won each of the last two meetings.
Scouting The Redhawks
Southeast Missouri will enter Saturday's contest at 3-6 on the year after taking down Eastern Illinois, 38-15, at home last week to improve to 3-1 in OVC play.
Â
SEMO currently averages 28.4 points and 358.7 yards per game, while allowing 33.2 and 445.1 points and yards per game, respectively. In addition, SEMO's offense leans more towards the run with 205.1 yards per game on the ground and 153.6 yards per game in the air
Â
The Redhawks' Geno Hess is currently sixth in the FCS in rushing yards per game at 111.8, fifth in total yards at 1,006 and fourth in rushing touchdowns at 13.
Â
Defensively, Brandon Mincey has been a standout for SEMO with 5.1 tackles per game, a team-high 8.0 tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception, two pass breakups, three quarterback hurries and 0.5 sacks on the year.
A Win Saturday Would...
A win Saturday would give the Racers three victories over SEMO in the same calendar year. The two teams met in the spring due to COVID-19 and then again last month due to scheduling issues due to teams leaving the OVC late in the spring.
Long-Distance Running
While he officially only got credit for 117 interception return yards on his two picks, when factoring in his 99-yard return on TTU's botched PAT, Floyd actually ran 216 yards on just three plays.
One More Time
Kicker Aaron Baum earned his second OVC Specialist of the Week honor against Tennessee Tech by going 3-for-4 with two kicks of over 45 yards. Baum is the only Racer so far this season to win more than one OVC weekly honor.
