Murray State women’s track & field team comes away with four first-place finishes and eight PR’s
The Murray State women's track & field team closed out its 2021 indoor track & field season at the Marshall Invite in Huntington, West Virginia. Eight athletes set new personal records and the Racers walked away with victories in the 60m dash, 800m run, high jump and the triple jump.
"This trip was all about having a business like demeanor and I think we did a good job of doing that. We had a lot of athletes come away with great performances. Meghan Fletcher really stuck out with a win in the high jump and three PRs. The meet was a little less then two hours long and the kids who competed in numerous events really competed. It's sad that our indoor season is over, but I think we should be confident moving into outdoor," said Head Coach Adam Kiesler.
Meghan Fletcher won the high jump competition, going three-for-three on the season, jumping a new PR of 1.71m.
Jasmine Claunch won her second triple jump event of her career, marking a distance of 11.80m. KeKe Mason set a new personal best at 11.30m.
In the 800m run, LaMiah Campbell won the event, setting a new PR of 2:14.66. Amirr Evans and Cassidy Goebel also set new personal-bests, running 2:15.1 and 2:25.8, respectively.
Three other Racers broke their previous personal-bests. Nia Scott ran a 8.97 in the 60m Hurdles, JaKayla McSwain ran 25.8 in the 200m dash and Shannon Riley cleared 3.42m in the pole vault.
The Racers open the 2021 outdoor track & field season on March 19-20at the Saluki Open in Carbondale, Ill.
