Racers To Open Outdoor Season at Southern Illinois

The Murray State women's track & field program will open the 2021 outdoor campaign for the first time since 2019 on Friday at the 2021 Bill Cornell Invite. The meet will be March 19^th-20^th at the Lew Hartzog Track and Field Complex on the campus of Southern Illinois.

"After the cancelation of last year's outdoor season we are extremely excited to get the 2021 season underway! We have a good mix of experience and youth that can make for an exciting combination when it comes to performances. This year we are staying more local, but we will get all the competition that we can handle which is great. As a team we have one goal in mind which is to compete for conference titles. This season that won't change. Competing is something these kids love to do and we look forward to seeing them do that" said Head Coach Adam Kiesler.

The meet begins at 2:00 p.m. on Friday with the Discus Throw and Triple Jump events and on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with the Javelin Throw event. Results will be posted on www.trxctiming.com.

Sophomore Meghan Fletcher will look to continue the roll she is on, having won all three of the high jump events she competed in.

Graduate D'Myia Thornton is ready for her last go-around on the track, coming off setting a new personal best at the 2020 Indoor OVC Championships, winning bronze in the 400m with a time of 55.96.

Freshman Jasmine Claunch had a great first indoor season, going two-for-two in triple jump events, marking a distance of 11.80m.
