Racers Open OVC Play This Weekend

MSU’s “second season” begins Saturday at SIUE
The Murray State softball team will take its six-game winning streak to SIUE this weekend to open its 13th and final season of OVC play. The series begins Saturday at Noon with a doubleheader at Cougar Field in Edwardsville, Illinois, followed by a single game Sunday, also at Noon. All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+, weather permitting.
Murray State is currently 16-14 all-time against the Cougars and has won each of the last five and seven of the last 10 games in the series. After sweeping the series in Edwardsville in both 2019 and 2021, the Racers are now 10-6 all-time at Cougar Field.
After a midweek-win over UTEP, the Racers enter the weekend series at 16-8 overall and have won each of their last six games. Offensively, MSU is hitting .279 as a team and is led by Gracie Osbron's .368 batting average. In the circle, Murray State has a staff ERA of just 1.70 with Jenna Veber leading the way with a 7-4 record and a 1.52 ERA with 33 strikeouts.
SIUE is currently 8-13 on the year after splitting a home doubleheader Wednesday with South Dakota. As a team, SIUE has a .264 batting average and a 4.61 ERA, while its opponents are hitting .287 against them and are allowing just 3.18 earned runs per game.
