Game Day Story Lines
- It's game-7 of the season for the Murray State Racers host the Illinois State Redbirds on homecoming day in Murray, Ky.
- The 2 p.m. kick off at Roy Stewart Stadium marks the eight meeting between the two in a series that began with a Murray State win in 2001.
- Making their first appearance in Murray since 2008, the Redbirds have won the last six with games in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008.
- The first known homecoming game at Murray State was in 1931 under Coach Ray Morgan when the Racers defeated Middle Tennessee 13-7.
- The Racers are 52-35-1 in homecoming games and have won  six of the last 11.
- The Racers played a tight game at Indiana State last week in a 31-27 loss.
- MSU's James London put the Racers in front with a field goal with 1:57 left, but the Racers couldn't hold the lead.
- The Racers have three touchdown drives of 80 or more yards this season.
- Last week at Indiana State, they went 80 yards in eight plays to get a TD from Jewaun Northington in the first quarter.
- They had a season-best 94 yard drive in their win over MVSU in the first quarter when the 17th play of the drive was a TD on a 5-yd run by Jayden Johannsen.Â
- The Racers had a clean sheet in the Indiana State game with zero turnovers, their second such game this season and first since the game at North Dakota State (Sept. 28).
- Justice Hill became the first Racer wide out with 100+ yards receiving since October 8, 2022 when Taylor Shields did so at Southeastern Louisiana. The Little Rock, Arkansas native finished the game with 103 yards.
- Joining the Racers for one season of football after a stellar career on the basketball floor at Murray State, Hill leads the Racers with 223 yards, 15 catches and a pair of touchdowns.Â
- The MSU linebacker duo of James Camden and Tyson Meiguez are 11th and 13th in the MVFC in tackles with 44 and 43 respectively.Â
- The 2024 schedule may be the most difficult MSU has ever faced as the season could produce eight opponents in 12 games that will be or were ranked nationally when they met the Racers.Â
- With the ranked Redbirds coming to town, the game Saturday marks the Racers' 00 against a ranked team this season.
- The best FCS league in the country, the MVFC has six teams ranked this week including #1 South Dakota State, #2 North Dakota State and #4 South Dakota.
