
Racers Fall to Beacons in Four Sets

Murray State was unable to overcome Valparaiso, losing 3-1.
The Murray State Racers (9-8, 4-4 MVC) lost to the Valparaiso Beacons (11-9, 3-5 MVC) 3-1 at Racer Arena on Friday night.Â
ÂThe loss is the third-straight for the Racers, who now sit sixth in the Missouri Valley Conference with the Beacons one spot behind.Â
ÂValpo came out strong in the first set, winning 25-15 and recording 17 kills, with a .405 attacking percentage. The Racers stormed back to win the second 25-17, finishing the set with a service ace from Federica Nuccio. However, the Racers could not win another set as the Beacons closed it out, winning 25-20 and 25-23.
ÂNuccio led the way in kills for the Racers with 15 kills on a .225 attacking percentage. Ella Vogel was the only other Racer to have double digit kills with 13. Dahlia Miller led the way in digs with 22 and Bailey DeMier put up 37 assists. Â
ÂThe Racers now turn their attention to Saturday's match with UIC starting at 6 p.m. CT at Racer Arena. Â
