Racers face Illinois State in MVC Home Opener

Racers will take on the Redbirds in first conference match of season
Murray State women's tennis will open the Missouri Valley Conference play at home on Sunday against the Illinois State Redbirds.Â
The Racers are currently 7-5 on the season, most recently dropping three matches on the road in South Carolina. The Racers picked up 6 doubles match wins over the week, now 25-6 on the season for doubles matches. MSU currently sits at fourth in the MVC rankings, trailing behind Illinois State, Missouri State, and Valparaiso.
Illinois State is 9-5 in non conference play, tied for first in the MVC standings with Missouri State. They were ranked second in the MVC preseason rankings, edging out MSU who was ranked third. The Redbirds are coming off of two road matches in Hawaii, dropping both 3-4 and 0-7, respectively. Illinois State will face Belmont prior to traveling to Murray State on Sunday.
Murray State will take on Illinois State on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts in Murray, Kentucky.
