Racers Close Out Non-Conference Slate At Grambling State

The Racers look to close out the non-conference portion of the 2024 season when they travel to Grambling, Louisiana to face the Grambling State Lady Tigers on Sunday, September 15. The match is set to kick off at 11 a.m. CT at the GSU Soccer Complex.
Grambling State saw victory in the inaugural matchup between the two programs, defeating MSU 2-0 at Cutchin Field in 2023.
The Lady Tigers enter Sunday's competition with a 2-4-3 record and are 0-1-1 at home this season. Grambling State is led by head coach Justin Wagar, who is in his sixth season at the helm of GSU's women's soccer program. His holds a 64-43-13 record since his arrival to Grambling and has notched a winning season in five of his six years.
In 2023, he led the Lady Tigers to a 15-5-4 record with a regular-season SWAC title and took Grambling to its sixth conference tournament championship game in seven years.
Jayla Gage leads the Lady Tigers with five of the team's 15 goals, two of which were game-winners, 10 total points and has put the most shots on goal with 10. She is one of three Grambling players to have taken at least 10 shots thus far.
Sydney Etter enters Sunday as Murray State's leading scorer with three goals, followed by five other Racers that have scored at least two goals this season. Among other members of the Missouri Valley Conference, the Racers have the third-highest goals-per-game average and third-lowest opponents' goals-per-game average.
