Murray, Ky. – The Murray State Racers will play their final home match of the regular season Sunday when they host the Evansville Aces at Cutchin Field.
The Racers will honor four seniors, all team captains, Mary Hardy, Megan Wilson, Sydney Etter and Tori Schrimpf. Each has played a key role in Murray State's success this season. Wilson and Schrimpf have anchored a defense that has limited opponents to 1.21 goals per game, while Hardy has contributed two goals and three assists. Etter has added two goals on the year.
Murray State is coming off a 1-0 home victory over Southern Illinois, moving up to No. 162 nationally in the RPI rankings, the third-highest in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Racers have played elite defense down the stretch, recording back-to-back shutouts and six clean sheets this season. Goalkeeper Griselda Revolorio earned her 13th career shutout against SIU, moving into third place in program history.
Evansville enters Sunday's matchup with a one-point edge over Murray State in the MVC standings, sitting at seven points. The Aces feature an efficient attack, converting 50 percent of their total shots on goal and averaging 1.33 goals per match.
Taylor Wehrer and preseason All-MVC first-team selection Taylor Johnson lead the offense. Evansville is coming off a 2-1 win over Belmont that snapped a three-match winless stretch. The Racers' defense will be key, as the Aces are unbeaten at 5-0-0 when scoring two or more goals.
The Racers and Aces will take the pitch at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at Cutchin Field.
