Racers to Face Skyhawks, Broncos at Skyhawk Invitational

The Murray State Racers (2-2, 0-0 MVC) will play a pair of non-conference matchups on Friday, February 14, at the Skyhawk Invitational in Martin, Tennessee.
The Racers will start the day against the UT Martin Skyhawks (2-3, 0-0 OVC) at 1 p.m. CT and face the Western Michigan Broncos (1-4, 0-0 MAC) at 5:30 p.m. CT.
This will be the 39th all-time matchup between the Racers and Skyhawks. Murray State leads the all-time series 20-18. However, the Skyhawks came out on top in the most recent matchup, winning 8-3 on March 6, 2024. This will be the first meeting between Murray State and Western Michigan.
Murray State is coming off of the season-opening South Alabama Invitational that saw the Racers capture a pair of wins over the Northwestern State Demons 2-1 and 10-2. They also suffered a close 2-3 loss to South Alabama and faced an offensive explosion from UAB, losing 1-9.
Several Racers have had hot starts at the plate in 2025, including Ailey Schyck, who hit a pair of three-run bombs in their second contest against the Demons. She currently leads the team with a .429 batting average, .556 on-base percentage, 1.985 OPS, and 7 RBI. The Winter Park, Fla. native is currently tied for sixth in the nation with a 1.429 slugging percentage.
Freshman Kenley Minor leads the team in hits with four. She is batting .308 and added a double and triple last weekend. Erin Lackey and Bailey Broemmer are both batting .300 with three hits and an RBI each, while Lackey adds a pair of doubles.
In the circle, Raylee Roby picked up two wins on the weekend and finished with an ERA of 2.47.
Kyla Harley has been an early threat at the plate for the Skyhawks with a team-leading seven hits and batting average and on-base percentage of .438. Dylan Scott and Jordyn Hustey lead the team with three RBI each, and Avary Makarewicz has the Skyhawk's lone home run.
Ashtyn Green has been the leader in the circle thus far, with two wins in 12.1 innings pitched. She currently has a 1.70 ERA with 11 strikeouts. Rylee Tittle leads the team with a 0.95 ERA and a team-low four hits allowed across 7.1 innings.
Western Michigan's lone win was an 8-0 season-opening victory over Michigan State. Riley Dittmar leads the team with seven hits, four hits, and a .467 batting average. She is one of three Broncos with a home run this season. Tristen Head has been another consistent threat at the plate for the Broncos, batting .429 with six hits.
Jensen Gremillion has been the leading pitcher for the Broncos, with a 4.54 ERA across 12.1 innings and a 1-2 record.
