Racers Fall to Sycamores – Series Win on the Line Sunday

The Murray State Racers dropped an 11-1 decision Saturday in the second game of their league series to the Indiana State Sycamores at Bob Warn Field in Terre Haute.
MSU (29-10) fell to 11-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference as they head into the series finale Sunday at noon Central Time.
For just the third time in the last 13 games, the Racers had five hits or fewer. And while MSU hasn't been shut out in 39 games in 2025, today's one-run offensive output was the just the third time MSU has been held to one run.
Indiana State got to the Racers and start Isaac Sliva when the game was scoreless in the 3rd with five runs and later knocked him from the game in the fourth with the Sycamores in front 6-0. Silva gave six runs in 3.2 IP, but only two were earned.
Carson Garner got the Racers on the board in the 7th with his 13th home run of the season.
Dom Decker and Jonathan Hogart each had two hits and accounted for four of MSU's five hits.

- Even after today's limited offense and giving up seven earned runs, the Racers still lead the MVC in batting average (.315) and ERA (4.70).
- MSU's win streak gets halted at seven.
- The Racers had wins over UIC, SEMO, Valpo (3), North Alabama and yesterday's game one win over ISU.
- The Racers started the season 7-0 and had another run of 7-0 from April 1 to April 12, which makes the 2025 team the first team in program history to have three 7-game winning streaks in the same season.
- If the Racers can win Sunday, they'll have four-straight MVC series wins, having already won series over Bradley, UIC and Valparaiso.
- The Racers are winners of 14 of their last 16 games since April 1.
- Carson Garner cracked his 13th home run of the season and is tied for third in the MVC.
- After a game at SEMO (April 29), The Racers return home to Johnny Reagan Field (May 2-4) to host Southern Illinois on MSU Baseball Alumni Weekend. Festivities include honoring new MSU Hall of Famer, Daniel Calhoun, the 1975 NCAA Team and Johnny Reagan Day.
