Murray State moved to 4-0 in The Valley with a 6-1 win over the Braves
Murray State women's tennis moved to 4-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference with a Sunday 6-1 win over the visiting Bradley Braves at Kenlake Tennis Center in Aurora, Kentucky.
With the win, the Racers have won 14 straight matches in the Valley over the last two seasons and are 11-6 over all as they host the Belmont Bruins Thursday in a noon contest at MSU's Bennie Purcell Courts.
"We took care of business today from start to finish. Bradley is a well coached and dangerous team but the girls did a fantastic job imposing their games on their opponents and not allowing them to get back on the matches. We are looking forward to hosting Belmont on Senior day this Thursday!", Head Coach, Jorge Caetano stated.
The Racers quickly won the doubles point when Valeria Chaikovskaia and Bruna Melato and Yu Kikawa and Yuna Kadowaki won their matches 6-0 and 7-5.
MSU won four singles matches in straight sets and one match in a walk over.
In singles play, Chaikovskaia gave the Racers the 3rd point, she now holds a 25-8 record this season. Yu Kikawa clinched the win for the Racers with a 6-0, 6-1 victory and is the only Racer undefeated in MVC play with a 4-0 record having won 9 of her last 10. She was soon followed by teammates Yuna Kadowaki and Rebecca Widan. The win for Widan marks her first MVC match and win in her young career as she arrived on campus in January.
