Three Racers Named to All-MVC Teams
The Murray State Racers had three players named to the 2025 All-Missouri Valley Conference Teams as announced by the league office in St. Louis on Wednesday morning. Â
Freshman Katy Huels was named to the All-MVC First Team, while her fellow freshman Kenley Minor was named to the All-MVC Second Team. Junior outfielder Bailey Broemmer was named to the MVC All-Defensive Team. Â
A native of Carlyle, Ill., Huels has wasted no time making an impact for Racer softball and leads the team in several statistical categories. The freshman leads the team with a .340 batting average and has started all 48 games this season. She also leads the team with 54 hits, 14 multiple-hit games, and features 23 RBI. The outfielder's season has been highlighted by a 17-game hit streak, the longest for any Racer this season and the second longest in program history.
Minor has put together a big freshman season of her own, hitting .333 on the season and leading the team with ten doubles. On the season, she has 52 hits, 20 RBI, and 11 stolen bases on 14 attempts. In addition to her offensive production, she has been a staple at second base, with 97 putouts and 67 assists on the year and a fielding percentage of .937. Â
Broemmer has been a consistent centerpiece to the Racers' outfield all season, starting 42 games in centerfield. The Wentzville, Mo. native features a .948 fielding percentage with 83 putouts and nine assists on the season to go with a deep highlight reel that features several running and diving catches. In addition to her stellar defensive play, Broemmer provides power at the plate with 24 hits and three home runs, including one grand slam. Â
"I'm so happy and proud for Katy, Kenley, and Bailey for their recognition in the MVC as some of the best," said head coach Kara Amundson. "They all three work really hard at their craft and have earned the chance for these awards. Hopefully these young ladies can continue to help us into some big games this week." Â
