MURRAY, Ky. — Following a weekend sweep of Valparaiso to open Missouri Valley Conference play, the Murray State baseball team looks to maintain its momentum Tuesday as it travels to face No. 19 Kentucky. The contest marks the Racers' first matchup against a ranked opponent this season.
The Murray State offense found its stride over four games last week, batting .324 as a team and scoring 30 runs. The attack was led by sophomore Conner Cunningham, who returned to the lineup to hit .455 over the weekend with four RBIs. Colby Ott paced the team with seven RBIs on the week, including a pair of doubles.
The Racers and Wildcats last met during the 2025 season, a game in which MSU topped UK 5-4 in Lexington. Cunningham provided the heroics in that contest with an eighth-inning sacrifice fly to drive in the game-winning run.
While Kentucky holds a 24-8 lead in the all-time series, MSU head coach Dan Skirka has found success against the Wildcats, posting a 2-4 record. A win Tuesday would mark Murray State's eighth victory over a Power Four program since 2023.
